This beautiful 400 year old beamed tavern, with its cosy bar and glowing fires serves traditional heart warming bar food such as; Cumberland sausages, creamy mash & gravy; and Ox cheek & winter vegetable stew with thyme dumplings. Good ‘old fashioned’ indulgence is the order of the day in the restaurant, where you’ll find classic English fayre and daily fresh fish specials on the a la carte menu.
“The Thatch”, as it is endearingly known is steeped in local history. Even in the 1700s it was a well known landmark – and it is said that Queen Victoria’s Royal Carriage was sometimes seen outside, while John Brown was fortifying himself inside before his onward journey to Windsor Castle!
